"The Dawn Of The Apocalypse" An Exhibition
Time & Location
About the Event
"The Dawn Of The Apocalypse" will be an exhibition of works by Dorothy Ogda Laxton (dol), scheduled for September 7th to 13th, 2020 at Show Gallery in Toronto. An opening event will be held from 6-9pm on September 7th. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 1-7pm. Due to social distancing requirements, only 5 people are alloweed in the gallery at a time.
Dorothy was offered offered this exhibition slot (originally from September 11th to 20th) on the second day of her first solo exhibition: "Pretty Dead Things & Miscellaneous Cath-Art-Ing.", which ran from January 22nd to 31st, 2020. The title "The Dawn Of The Apocalypse" was inspired by a "Blahg" written days earlier. The whole thing just came together, as the UNIVERSE often allows. The irony of the arrival of Covid-19 in Canada merely days later has not been lost on this emerging "Multidisciplinary CathArtist". Dorothy offers the world a variety of feats of CREATION. She sees herself as a multi-tool of CREATION. Not a creator. Her works include (but are not limited to) everything from photographs of NATURE to philosophical rants; haunting ballads to beautiful knotworks; honest humor to fragile clay forms. Her works come in whatever form the UNIVERSE sees fit to express them. Several new projects, including a collection of poems; a recently conceived line of paracord accessories called "Survive In Style"; and, some experiments in mixed media, are planned for the show.
The show will also be virtually available on Instagram @bystresscookie & @theshowgallery978. A GoFundMe drive has been launched to help fincance the show.
